Madi Hutchinson is the Career Specialist and Huntington Area Experience Coordinator for First Ascent. In her role, she not only facilitates the transition of recent graduates from university to professional careers but also plays a significant part in helping First Ascent members find community and purpose while engaging in the many outdoor opportunities available in the Huntington Area.
A native of Wayne County, Madi was raised playing in the hills and was always reminded to stay “close enough to see the red roof” of her childhood home. Her proud Appalachian identity was strengthened while pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Berea College in Kentucky. After that, she returned “Out Wayne” to settle close to family and raise her own. She spent several years working as an Outreach, Resource, and Career Specialist in Wayne and Cabell Counties before joining the OEDC with First Ascent.
In her free time, you might find Madi taking nature walks with her kiddos, kayaking, or paddleboarding on the water. She enjoys hiking, camping, and collecting wildflowers. She is also heavily involved with the Wayne County Fair and creating fun recreation in her community.
