As the Program Coordinator for Science Behind the Sport, Johanna “Annie” Harmon connects people to the science and math hidden in outdoor adventures. A native of Elkins, Annie particularly loves working with the seasonal STEM team at Science Adventure School to bring accessible outdoor education to her home state. Annie studied biology and Spanish at Denison University before embarking on a varied career of teaching and researching. Highlights included managing a tropical reserve, training birds of prey, and tracking animals through thorns and swamps, before she discovered that outdoor education was her real passion. She spends her free days birding, climbing and playing music.
