Ryan Ratcliff is the Morgantown Area Experience Coordinator for Ascend WV. In his role, he facilitates the transition to life in the Morgantown Area, helping Ascend WV members find community and purpose through outdoor recreation. Ryan Graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management and an M.S. in Human Resource management.
Ryan’s path to working with Ascend West Virginia is littered with Appalachian hallmarks. Born and raised in Beckley, he became a coal miner after high school. Eventually, his love of the outdoors turned him to seasonal adventure recreation work. Ryan has worked ski patrol at Snowshoe and guided rafts on the Ocoee, Youghiogheny, New, and Gauley rivers.
In his time outside of work, you might find Ryan rafting, skiing, or hiking before settling in for the night to have a sip of his favorite bourbon – Smooth Ambler Old Scout Single Barrel Select.
