Kirstin Cole serves as the Greenbrier Valley Program Coordinator for Ascend WV, part of the Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative. In this role, Kirstin supports new residents as they transition into life in the Greenbrier Valley—helping them build meaningful relationships, connect to local culture, and feel a true sense of belonging in their new community.
A proud native of the region, Kirstin implements place-based programming that highlights the area’s natural beauty and cultural richness, while fostering personal and professional connections. Her work directly supports the OEDC’s mission to empower West Virginia’s communities and partners by enhancing quality of life through outdoor recreation and helping reverse population decline.
Kirstin earned her Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication from Shepherd University, a college town that reminded her of her own roots in Lewisburg. Her professional background spans data analysis, teaching, and animal welfare—each chapter reinforcing her deep commitment to people, storytelling, and service. In her current role, she has found the perfect alignment of passion and purpose: helping others call Almost Heaven their home.
Kirstin’s connection to the outdoors runs deep. Whether she’s hiking the mountains, floating the Greenbrier River, or camping with family, outdoor recreation continues to remind her why the Greenbrier Valley is so special. Outside of work, she enjoys creating art, relaxing with her cat, and sipping a warm cup of tea. Her favorite local brew? Zona’s Revenge from Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company—a flavorful nod to Appalachian folklore and the pride of her community.
