Jessica Sutton is the Greater Elkins Area Experience Coordinator for Ascend WV. In her role, she facilitates the transition to life in the Elkins Area, helping Ascend WV members find community and purpose through outdoor recreation. Jessica Graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Political Science and an M.L.S. in Legal Studies.
Jessica worked in public service for state and local government for 20 years before joining The Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Collaborative as Experience Coordinator. Most recently, she was the City Clerk for Elkins, making her the perfect fit for her new role.
Being active outdoors keeps Jessica motivated, whether floating down the river with friends, carving down a snowy mountain on a bluebird day, or finishing an ultramarathon. She shares her active lifestyle with the youth in Elkins through coaching. For the last seven years, she's coached cross-country running at Elkins Middle School. "To see a young athlete put in the effort to realize their potential and strive for their goals is one of the most satisfying feelings I've experienced," she says.
In her time outside of work and coaching, you might find Jessica trail running, snowboarding, or playing ultimate frisbee before enjoying the evening with her favorite local beverage - Big Timber Seltzer.
