Cote Womack serves as the New River Gorge Experience Coordinator for Ascend WV, part of the Brad & Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative. In this role, Cote brings together outdoor enthusiasts and community members through regular social and outdoor gatherings, fostering a strong and vibrant regional cohort. Acting as an ambassador for the New River Gorge Region, he works to connect new program members with people and organizations throughout the area, creating lasting bonds and enhancing community engagement.
A graduate of Glenville State University with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management, Cote’s passion for stewardship and outdoor recreation stems from his previous role as a Park Ranger (Natural Resource Specialist) with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he served at Summerville, Sutton, and Burnsville Lakes. He is excited to leverage his federal service experience and natural resource expertise to benefit the OEDC and the community it serves.
Growing up immersed in outdoor adventure through his family’s climbing guide service, Cote developed a profound love and appreciation for the outdoors, which he now shares with his own family and friends. In his free time, you’ll often find him rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, or exploring new experiences. Occasionally, he enjoys unwinding with a good video game at home.
Cote’s passion for connecting people with nature is as strong as his dedication to building thriving outdoor communities. He believes in creating spaces where individuals can forge lifelong memories and connections with West Virginia’s stunning landscapes.
