Across the state, communities are creating new opportunities rooted in what makes West Virginia unique. Our role is to support that work by strengthening the conditions that help people stay, grow, and build their futures here.

Ascend WV
Ascend WV invites remote workers to put down roots in West Virginia.
More than a place to live, it offers a community to belong to. By connecting participants to local networks, outdoor access, and everyday life in their new communities, the program supports people as they settle in and contribute to the places they call home, strengthening both the people who move here and the communities they join.
First Ascent WV
First Ascent connects West Virginia’s graduates to career opportunities, mentorship, and community across the state.
This program helps early-career professionals find their footing through job placement, professional development, and a built-in network of peers. By strengthening connections between talent and opportunity, First Ascent supports graduates as they begin building their careers in West Virginia.
Teachers Ascend
Teachers Ascend brings educators to West Virginia’s classrooms.
This two-year program helps address local teacher shortages by connecting participants with mentorship, professional development, and a strong sense of community. Through a partnership with the WV Public Education Collaborative, educators are supported as they build their careers and become part of the communities they serve.
Vantage Ventures Accelerator
Vantage Ventures Accelerator supports entrepreneurs building and growing businesses in West Virginia.
Through mentorship, resources, and targeted support, the program helps founders move ideas forward and strengthen the communities they’re part of. In partnership with the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, it connects participants to expertise and support that helps them take the next step.
