  • Ascend Morgantown Community VISTA

    The VISTA member will assist in developing community engagement and service opportunities for the Ascend WV program with the goal of creating meaningful and positive experiences. This person will also help to identify ways of supporting and nurturing a community of remote workers that exist in and beyond our program. Additionally, this person will help foster a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship with local partners and stakeholders by pursuing opportunities for collective engagement.

  • Ascend Assistant Director

    Reporting to the Ascend WV Director within the Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (Smith OEDC), the Assistant Director will be responsible for assisting with the implementation, operations, oversight, and evolution of the Ascend WV program. The Assistant Director will be a self-starter who shows a high aptitude for adaptability, team leadership, task completion, project development, and applied learning toward overall program improvement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to program management, participant community building, benchmarking, data analysis, and day to day operations.

  • Ascend Program Coordinator - Eastern Panhandle

    The Program Coordinator of the Ascend WV program functions as a member of the OEDC Ascend WV program team. Together, this team is responsible for implementing the Ascend WV program in the Eastern Panhandle and ensuring its long-term sustainability. Under the direction of the Director, the Program Coordinator has specific oversight and responsibility for the programmatic aspects of the Ascend WV program in the Eastern Panhandle. The incumbent shares in the planning, implementation, and management of high-quality programming to support Ascend WV program participants through their transition into the community. The employee supports outreach efforts with the community to inform, educate, and engage community members and leaders about the program and develop a robust ecosystem of support for program participants.

  • Grants and Research Coordinator

    The primary purpose of the Grants and Research Coordinator is to advance the land-grant mission of West Virginia University by managing and providing centralized external funding development and administration to the Smith OEDC, StartUp WV, and WV communities through grants, proposal development- corporate sponsors and foundations, and creating reports. This position will report to the Director of Outdoor Community Development while supporting the efforts of StartUp WV and the Assistant Vice President of Economic Innovation. Specifically, this position will be tasked with the management, research, writing, and reporting of pertinent grant, foundation, and corporate sponsorship opportunities in the fields of outdoor recreation infrastructure, community development, public health, conservation, and economic development.

  • Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Manager

    The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Manager (ORIM) will be a member of the Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative (OEDC) team and responsible for assisting WVU with implementing natural surface trail and other outdoor recreation infrastructure projects throughout West Virginia to advance the state’s outdoor economy. The projects will be a combination of local and throughout the state. Responsibilities will include assisting with project design and management, budgeting, inspections, construction, volunteer development & management, and trainings.
