Carmen Bowes, a native of the Mountain State, is the Grants and Research Coordinator at the Smith OEDC. Born in Philippi West Virginia, she graduated from WVU with a BA in English and a MA in Secondary Education.
In her role, she is focused on helping to gain funding for projects that make West Virginia a better place to live, work, and play. Before joining the team, Carmen worked at various nonprofits, where she crafted proposals and managed awards for private, federal, and state funding sources.
In her free time, you can find Carmen paddling West Virginia rivers, mountain biking flow trails, xc skiing on beginner-friendly terrain, or working on her home renovation project.
